Essential Ingredients for Crafting Perfect Tuna Patties

You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how few ingredients are truly required to create these utterly delectable tuna patties. What’s more, this is a remarkably low-mess recipe, meaning you won’t need an extensive array of equipment, which translates to significantly less washing up afterward – truly a win-win for any busy home cook!

Key Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s a detailed look at every single ingredient I use to create these perfectly tasty tuna patties. These are items I always ensure are well-stocked in my kitchen: a trusty can of tuna waiting patiently in the cupboard, creamy mayonnaise chilling in the fridge, and versatile panko breadcrumbs readily available in the pantry.

Tuna Patties Ingredients laid out on a table including canned tuna, egg, mayonnaise, panko breadcrumbs, green onions, and seasonings
All the simple, fresh ingredients meticulously laid out and ready to be transformed into delicious tuna patties.
  • Canned Tuna (Two 5-ounce cans): This is undeniably the star protein of our dish! The most critical step with canned tuna is to drain it absolutely thoroughly to prevent any excess moisture from making your finished patties soggy. Either chunk light or albacore tuna works wonderfully, offering slightly different textures but consistent savory flavor. Opt for tuna packed in water for a lighter option, or in oil for a richer, more tender result.
  • Panko Breadcrumbs (½ cup): These unique Japanese-style breadcrumbs are an absolute game-changer for achieving that desired texture. They don’t just act as a fantastic binder, holding the patties together firmly; they also contribute to that signature light, airy, and incredibly crisp texture we all crave. Panko absorbs moisture without becoming heavy, ensuring a delightful crunch with every bite. Related: Discover another panko favorite with Panko Crusted Cod.
  • Large Egg (1): The egg serves as the main binding agent, absolutely essential for holding the entire tuna mixture together. When beaten and incorporated, it provides the necessary structure to ensure your patties don’t fall apart or crumble in the pan, allowing them to cook beautifully and maintain their shape.
  • Mayonnaise (2 tbsp): More than just a condiment, mayonnaise plays a vital role in these patties. It adds crucial moisture and richness, which keeps the patties tender and flavorful from the inside out, effectively preventing them from drying out during the cooking process. It also contributes a subtle tang that complements the tuna.
  • Kosher Salt (½ tsp) and Black Pepper (¼ tsp): Proper seasoning is paramount for truly tasty patties. Kosher salt enhances all the inherent flavors of the ingredients, while freshly ground black pepper adds a pleasant warmth and a subtle, invigorating bite. Don’t be shy – season your tuna mixture well, adjusting to your personal preference, to ensure every patty is bursting with flavor.
  • Chopped Green Onions and/or Fresh Parsley (2 tbsp): These fresh herbs are indispensable for brightening the overall flavor profile of the patties. Green onions offer a mild, delicate oniony zest, while fresh parsley contributes a clean, herbaceous, and slightly peppery note. Together, they bring a vibrant freshness and a subtle pop of color and flavor. If green onions aren’t available, a finely minced regular onion can be used as a substitute, though be aware the flavor will be a bit stronger and more pungent.

For Frying: The Secret to Golden Crispy Perfection

  • Olive Oil (2 tbsp – Not Extra Virgin): The right kind of olive oil is key for pan-frying these patties to achieve their coveted golden, crispy exterior. We recommend a regular or light olive oil, as extra virgin olive oil has a lower smoke point and can burn easily, leading to a bitter taste. This oil adds a touch of richness and ensures a beautiful crust. You can certainly use any other neutral, high-smoke-point cooking oil you prefer, such as canola oil, vegetable oil, grapeseed oil, or avocado oil, to achieve similar excellent results.

Substitutions and Creative Variations for Your Tuna Patties

One of the many joys of this tuna patty recipe is its incredible flexibility and adaptability. You can easily swap out several ingredients to create exciting variations that cater to different dietary needs, personal preferences, or simply to shake up the flavor profile and keep things interesting. Here are a few creative adaptations I’ve experimented with over the years:

  • Breadcrumb Alternatives:
    • For a **gluten-free** option, simply substitute regular panko with gluten-free panko breadcrumbs, which are widely available, or use finely crushed rice crackers for a similar texture.
    • To make the patties **lower-carb** or grain-free, consider swapping the breadcrumbs for almond flour, finely crushed pork rinds (for a savory, umami boost), or a small amount of coconut flour. When using these alternatives, remember to adjust quantities carefully; start with slightly less than the recipe calls for and add more as needed, as they absorb liquid differently than traditional panko.
    • If panko isn’t available, traditional finely ground breadcrumbs will work, but be aware they can make the patties a bit denser. You might need to adjust the mayonnaise slightly to maintain moisture.
  • Spice It Up: Don’t hesitate to play with the spice profile! I frequently add fresh chilies (like finely minced jalapeño or serrano), a pinch of fragrant turmeric, and fresh cilantro to transform these into vibrant, Indian-inspired patties, a family favorite that brings wonderful aromatic complexity. Other fantastic additions include a dash of smoked paprika for depth, garlic powder or onion powder for savory notes, or a hint of cayenne pepper for a gentle or pronounced heat.
  • Protein Swaps:
    • Beyond canned tuna, you can certainly use finely flaked cooked tuna steak or even leftover grilled tuna for a more gourmet touch.
    • Canned or cooked salmon is a perfect direct swap to create equally delicious salmon patties. Simply follow the same draining and mixing instructions.
    • For a creative poultry variation, shredded rotisserie chicken or cooked, finely diced chicken breast also work exceptionally well, offering a different flavor profile while maintaining the familiar, comforting patty texture.
  • Fresh Herb Mix-ins: While green onions and parsley are classic choices, feel free to experiment with other fresh herbs that complement fish. Fresh dill adds a lovely bright, slightly tangy note that pairs beautifully with seafood. Chives provide a delicate, milder onion flavor, cilantro brings an earthy, zesty, and slightly peppery twist, and basil offers a sweet, aromatic, and distinctly Italian aroma.
  • Aromatic Boosters: For a stronger aromatic base than the mild green onions, finely chopped red onion or shallots are excellent choices; just remember they have a more pungent flavor. You can also add a little minced fresh garlic or garlic powder for an extra layer of savory depth and aroma.
  • Frying Oil Options: If olive oil isn’t your preference or you require an alternative, avocado oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil, or vegetable oil are all perfectly suitable for pan-frying these patties. Always choose a neutral-flavored oil or one with a higher smoke point, depending on your cooking preferences and dietary considerations.

Essential Tools and Equipment You’ll Need

Good news! You won’t need a specialized arsenal of expensive kitchen gadgets or obscure appliances for this recipe. Most of these essential items are probably already comfortably residing in your kitchen drawers and cupboards. Here’s a quick and handy list of what you’ll need:

  • Sharp Knife and Cutting Board: Absolutely essential for finely chopping your green onions or fresh parsley, ensuring even distribution throughout the patty mixture.
  • Large Mixing Bowl: A spacious mixing bowl is crucial to comfortably combine all your ingredients without spillage or making an unnecessary mess.
  • Fork: An ordinary kitchen fork is ideal for flaking the canned tuna and then gently but thoroughly mixing all the patty ingredients together until just combined.
  • Frying Pan or Skillet: A good quality non-stick pan or a well-seasoned cast-iron skillet is highly recommended. These types of pans are key for achieving that perfect golden-brown, crispy crust on your patties while preventing them from sticking.
  • Spatula: A thin, wide spatula is your best friend for gently flipping the delicate patties during cooking and for carefully transferring them from the pan to your serving plate without breaking them apart.

How to Make Perfect Tuna Patties: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide

You’ll be genuinely amazed at just how simple, quick, and straightforward these crispy tuna cakes are to create from start to finish. This is my tried-and-true, simple method that consistently guarantees perfect results every single time – tender on the inside, golden and crispy on the outside:

Step 1: Making Tuna Patty Mixture in a bowl, showing combined ingredients
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl until well blended and cohesive.
Step 2: Shaped Tuna Patties neatly arranged on a plate
2. Form the mixture into evenly sized, sturdy patties.
Step 3: Tuna patties cooking in a frying pan, showing golden-brown crust
3. Cook the patties in hot oil until golden brown and beautifully crispy.

Step 1: Prepare the Tuna Patty Mixture

In a spacious large mixing bowl, combine your thoroughly drained canned tuna, crisp panko breadcrumbs, whisked large egg, creamy mayonnaise, a generous seasoning of kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and the vibrant chopped green onions or fresh parsley. Using a fork, gently stir all these delicious ingredients together until they are just well blended and form a cohesive, manageable mixture. It’s important to avoid overmixing, as this can lead to a tougher, less tender patty. You’re aiming for a mixture that holds together when lightly pressed.

Step 2: Form the Tuna Patties

Once your flavorful mixture is ready, divide it into 6 evenly sized portions. Gently shape each portion into a patty, aiming for approximately 1-inch thick and about 3-inches in diameter. Strive for uniform thickness across all patties to ensure they cook evenly and consistently. If the mixture feels a little too loose or sticky to handle, a quick chill in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes can work wonders to help them firm up before you proceed to frying.

Step 3: Cook the Tuna Patties to Golden Perfection

Heat the olive oil (or your preferred high-heat cooking oil) in a large frying pan or skillet over medium heat. You want the oil to be shimmering slightly, indicating it’s hot enough, but definitely not smoking. Carefully place the shaped patties into the hot oil. It’s crucial not to overcrowd the pan; if necessary, cook in batches to allow enough space around each patty for proper browning and crisping. Cook the patties for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until they develop a beautiful golden brown color and an irresistibly crisp exterior. The internal temperature should be heated through and the patties firm to the touch.

Serve these wonderful, crispy tuna patties warm, straight from the pan, and prepare to enjoy their irresistible texture and savory, comforting flavor!

5 Common Mistakes to Avoid When Making Tuna Patties

Even though tuna patties are celebrated for their simplicity and ease, a few common pitfalls can inadvertently affect their texture, appearance, and overall flavor. Being aware of these potential issues will empower you to avoid them and consistently achieve perfect, delicious patties every single time:

  1. Not Draining the Tuna Properly: This is arguably the most critical step for success! If you don’t thoroughly drain the canned tuna, the retained excess moisture will make your patty mixture too wet and loose. The inevitable result will be soggy patties that struggle immensely to hold their shape and are highly prone to falling apart during cooking. Always press the tuna firmly in a fine-mesh sieve or between several layers of paper towels to remove as much liquid as humanly possible before you even begin mixing.
  2. Overmixing the Ingredients: While it’s certainly important to combine all the ingredients thoroughly so they are well-distributed, overworking the mixture can lead to undesirable results. Excessive mixing can activate the gluten in the breadcrumbs and compress the tuna, ultimately leading to dense, tough, and rubbery patties instead of the desired light and fluffy interior. Stir just until everything is combined and no dry streaks remain, then stop. Less is often more when it comes to mixing.
  3. Skipping or Skimping on Binding Agents: The egg and breadcrumbs are the foundational binding agents that are absolutely crucial for holding these patties together. If you decide to skip these components entirely, or if you use too little, your patties will unfortunately lack the necessary structure and are highly likely to crumble and disintegrate while frying. Ensure you use the precise amounts as specified in the recipe to guarantee proper binding and a stable, intact patty that cooks beautifully.
  4. Not Heating the Pan Sufficiently: Patience is a true virtue when heating your frying pan! Cooking the patties in a pan that’s too cold or where the oil hasn’t reached the correct temperature can cause a host of problems: they might stick to the pan, absorb too much oil becoming greasy, or cook unevenly without developing that desirable, golden-brown crispy crust. Always ensure the oil is shimmering and visibly hot over medium heat before gently placing the patties in the pan.
  5. Making Patties Too Thick: If your tuna patties are overly thick, they may brown too quickly on the outside, creating a crisp exterior, but remain unappetizingly undercooked or even raw in the center. Conversely, if they’re made too thin, they might dry out rapidly. Aim for a uniform, moderate thickness (approximately 1 inch) to ensure they cook through evenly, resulting in perfectly tender interiors with a delightful crispy exterior.

Make-Ahead & Storage Tips for Tuna Patties

Planning ahead makes meal prep significantly easier, and tuna patties are exceptionally well-suited for advance preparation. They store beautifully both before and after cooking, offering great flexibility for busy schedules.

Preparing Ahead of Time

You can effortlessly prepare the tuna patty mixture in advance and shape the patties. Once they are formed, carefully place them on a plate lined with parchment paper (to prevent sticking), cover them tightly with plastic wrap or an airtight lid, and store them in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. This clever tip allows you to complete all the prep work the day before, leaving you to simply fry them fresh when you’re ready for dinner, minimizing last-minute stress.

Storing Leftover Cooked Patties

  • If you find yourself with a surplus of delicious leftover cooked patties, allow them to cool completely to room temperature before storing. Transfer them to an airtight container and keep them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They’re fantastic for quick and easy lunches, wholesome snacks, or even a light breakfast!

Freezing Tuna Patties for Longer Storage

  • For extended long-term storage, freezing the patties *before* cooking is generally the best method for maintaining their optimal texture and freshness. To do this, lay the raw, shaped patties flat and in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, ensuring they do not touch each other. Freeze them until they are completely solid, which typically takes about 1-2 hours.
  • Once frozen solid, transfer the individual patties to an airtight freezer-safe container or a heavy-duty freezer bag. This crucial step prevents them from sticking together and significantly reduces the risk of freezer burn. They can be stored in the freezer for a generous period of up to 3 months. When you’re ready to cook, you can often fry them directly from frozen, simply adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time per side.

Reheating Tuna Patties

  • Microwave: For the quickest reheat, you can easily microwave the cooked fish patties until they are warmed through. However, be aware that this method might soften or diminish their delightful crispy exterior.
  • Air Fryer/Oven: To restore their wonderfully crispy finish, which is highly recommended, pop the leftover patties into an air fryer (at 350°F / 175°C for 5-8 minutes) or reheat them in a preheated oven (at 375°F / 190°C for 10-15 minutes). Make sure to flip them halfway through cooking until they are piping hot and beautifully crispy again.
  • Skillet: Reheat them gently in a lightly oiled skillet over medium-low heat. This method is excellent for re-crisping the exterior while ensuring the interior warms evenly, mimicking their freshly cooked texture.

Their crispy texture and savory flavor pair exceptionally well with so many accompaniments. Here are some of my absolute favorite and most creative ways to serve them:

  • The Ultimate Tuna Burger: For a truly hearty and satisfying meal, lovingly tuck your warm, crispy tuna patties into a soft, toasted burger bun. Pile on your favorite burger toppings like crisp lettuce leaves, juicy tomato slices, a zingy red onion, and a generous dollop of creamy tartar sauce or aioli. I particularly adore pairing this with a vibrant side of my easy homemade coleslaw recipe for an additional refreshing crunch. Don’t forget a generous squeeze of fresh lemon juice, a sprinkle of bright lemon zest, a dash of your favorite hot sauce for a little kick, and/or a smear of tangy Dijon mustard to truly elevate and brighten the flavors!
  • Light & Refreshing Salad: For a lighter, yet equally satisfying meal option, serve these delicious fish patties artfully arranged atop a generous bed of fresh mixed greens. You can instantly transform this into a gourmet tuna salad by adding vibrant and crunchy ingredients like thinly sliced avocado, crisp cucumbers, sweet cherry tomatoes, and a light drizzle of a bright, zesty lemon vinaigrette dressing. The fresh flavors and textures perfectly complement the savory patties.
  • Dynamic Wraps or Tacos: Get wonderfully creative by serving your tuna patties nestled in warm flour tortillas, soft corn tortillas, or crisp lettuce wraps for a fun and interactive meal. If you have the patties already cooked and ready to go in the fridge, this becomes a meal with almost NO additional prep time – just assemble and enjoy! Enhance them with some vibrant salsa, a squeeze of fresh lime, and your favorite taco or wrap toppings like shredded cabbage, sour cream, or pickled onions.
  • With Grains & Fresh Herbs: Tuna patties are also excellent when served alongside comforting and wholesome grains. Think a bed of fluffy simple basmati rice, nutty quinoa, or even couscous. Garnish generously with loads of fresh herbs like aromatic cilantro, delicate dill, or vibrant parsley to brighten the entire dish and add an aromatic, refreshing finish. A simple side of steamed or roasted seasonal vegetables also makes for a beautifully balanced and well-rounded meal.
  • Breakfast or Brunch Treat: Believe it or not, these savory patties can even make a delightful and unexpected addition to your breakfast or brunch spread! Serve them alongside a perfectly poached egg, a side of roasted cherry tomatoes, or some sautéed spinach for a unique, protein-packed, and healthy morning meal that will keep you energized.
  • Elegant Party Appetizer: Mini versions of these patties can be transformed into delightful and sophisticated appetizers for your next gathering. Shape them smaller, cook until crispy, and then top with a dollop of flavorful aioli, a sprinkle of fresh chives, a tiny slice of lemon, or even a small piece of smoked salmon on a cracker or cucumber slice for an elegant bite.

Expert Tips & Science-Backed Secrets for Perfect Tuna Patties

As a food scientist, I absolutely love sharing my insider tips and clever tricks to help you achieve the absolute best results possible in your kitchen. These pro tips are specifically designed to ensure your tuna patties are consistently flavorful, perfectly textured, and hold together beautifully every single time you make them. Consider these your secret weapons for culinary success – I’ve gotcha covered!

  • Chill the Patties Before Cooking for Enhanced Stability: This is a golden rule for many patty-style recipes, and it’s especially effective here. After you’ve meticulously shaped your tuna patties, it is highly beneficial to refrigerate them for at least 15-30 minutes (or even longer) before you begin frying. This crucial chilling period allows the binders (egg and breadcrumbs) to fully set and the fats in the mayonnaise to firm up, which significantly helps the patties hold their structure better during the cooking process. It drastically reduces the risk of them falling apart in the pan, ensuring perfectly intact, beautiful patties with a superior crust.
  • Choose the Right Pan for Maximum Crispness: For the crispiest tuna patties with an irresistibly gorgeous golden-brown crust, always opt for a good quality non-stick skillet or a well-seasoned cast-iron pan. These types of pans distribute heat exceptionally evenly and prevent sticking, which is paramount for allowing the patties to develop that desirable crispy exterior without tearing or leaving bits behind. Ensure you use a sufficient, but not excessive, amount of oil to facilitate this browning.
  • Avoid Overcrowding the Pan – Cook in Batches: It might be tempting to cook all your patties at once, especially if you’re eager to eat! However, overcrowding the pan is a common and detrimental mistake that can lead to suboptimal results. When too many patties are packed into the pan, they significantly lower the temperature of the cooking oil. This drop in temperature causes the patties to steam rather than truly fry, resulting in soggy, greasy, and less flavorful patties instead of perfectly crisp ones. Always fry in sensible batches, leaving enough space around each patty for the heat to circulate properly and for a consistent, deeply golden crust to form.
  • Don’t Skimp on Seasoning: Tuna, while delicious, can be a bit bland on its own without proper seasoning. Ensure you season your mixture generously with salt and pepper, and don’t be afraid to taste a tiny bit of the raw mixture (before adding the egg, if you’re concerned about raw egg) to adjust the seasoning to your preference. A well-seasoned patty is a flavorful patty that truly shines!
  • Handle with Care During Flipping: While chilling certainly helps with stability, tuna patties are still relatively delicate when cooking. Always use a thin, wide spatula to carefully and confidently flip them. This minimizes any chance of breakage or crumbling, preserving their perfect shape and crust.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tuna Patties

Quickly skimming through this delicious recipe and looking for quick answers? Here are some of the most common questions about making tuna patties, answered concisely so you don’t miss out on any essential tips or troubleshooting advice:

How do I keep tuna patties from falling apart during cooking?

The key to keeping tuna patties perfectly intact and preventing them from falling apart is ensuring proper binding and meticulous moisture control. Firstly, make sure to drain the canned tuna absolutely thoroughly by pressing out as much liquid as possible. Secondly, use the correct amounts of binding agents like breadcrumbs and egg, as specified in the recipe. Lastly, a crucial professional tip is to chill the shaped patties in the refrigerator for at least 15-30 minutes before frying; this helps them firm up and hold their shape much better during the cooking process.

How can I prevent my tuna patties from becoming too dry?

To ensure your tuna patties remain wonderfully moist and tender, it’s vital to avoid overcooking them, as prolonged heat will undeniably dry out the tuna. The mayonnaise included in the recipe is key for adding moisture and richness, so ensure you use the recommended amount. For an extra boost of moisture, consider adding a small amount of finely grated zucchini (squeezed of excess water) or a touch of fresh lemon juice to the mixture. Cooking over medium heat for the specified time also helps maintain internal moisture while achieving that desirable crispy exterior.

Can I bake tuna patties instead of frying them for a healthier alternative?

Absolutely, yes! Baking is a fantastic and often healthier alternative to pan-frying. To bake tuna patties, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Place the shaped patties on the sheet and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes, making sure to flip them carefully halfway through, until they are beautifully golden brown and crispy on both sides, and thoroughly cooked through. This method yields a slightly less crispy but equally delicious and wholesome patty.

What type of tuna is best for making these patties?

Both chunk light and albacore tuna varieties work exceptionally well for making delicious patties. Chunk light tuna (often skipjack) is typically flakier, has a milder flavor, and a softer texture. Albacore tuna, on the other hand, is firmer, whiter, and possesses a richer, more pronounced flavor. The most important factor, regardless of the variety you choose, is to thoroughly drain the tuna to prevent any excess moisture that could lead to soggy patties.

Are tuna patties suitable for meal prepping throughout the week?

Yes, tuna patties are absolutely excellent for meal prepping! You can prepare the mixture and form the patties up to 24 hours in advance and store them uncooked, covered, in the fridge. Cooked patties can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and conveniently reheated using a skillet, oven, or air fryer to restore their crispness. They also freeze remarkably well, both raw and cooked, offering incredibly convenient future meals and reducing food waste.

The BEST Tuna Patties (Quick + Crispy Recipe with Canned Tuna!)

By: Jennifer Pallian BSc, RD
These tuna patties are a masterclass in texture, emerging perfectly fluffy on the inside with a delightful light and crispy golden-brown exterior, thanks to the panko breadcrumbs. I typically serve them with a fresh, crunchy salad or a vibrant slaw, and always with a few generous lemon wedges for a bright finish.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 minutes
Total Time: 18 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, thoroughly drained
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or fresh parsley

For Frying:

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (not extra virgin, or other high-heat cooking oil)

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine the thoroughly drained tuna, panko breadcrumbs, egg, mayonnaise, kosher salt, black pepper, and chopped green onions or parsley. Mix gently with a fork until all ingredients are just well blended and form a cohesive mixture. Avoid overmixing.
  • Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and gently shape each into a patty, about 1-inch thick and 3-inches in diameter. For best results, chill the formed patties in the refrigerator for 15-30 minutes before cooking.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan or skillet over medium heat until shimmering. Carefully place the patties into the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary to avoid overcrowding. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and crisp on the exterior and heated through.
  • Serve warm, accompanied by your favorite dipping sauce or alongside a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Drain Tuna Well: This is paramount for crispy patties! Press out as much liquid as possible from the canned tuna using a fine-mesh sieve or paper towels to prevent soggy patties and help them hold their shape and crisp up beautifully.
  • Panko Substitutes: For dietary needs, swap panko with crushed pork rinds, almond flour, or coconut flour for a lower-carb option. When substituting, start with a slightly smaller quantity and add more as needed, as different binders absorb moisture differently. Gluten-free panko also works perfectly.
  • Make-Ahead Tip: To save time, you can prepare the tuna mixture and shape the patties up to 24 hours in advance. Store them uncooked, covered, in the refrigerator, and fry just before serving.
  • Optimal Pan Choice: A high-quality nonstick skillet or a well-seasoned cast iron pan is your best friend for achieving a consistently golden, crisp crust on your tuna patties without them sticking.
  • Chill for Best Results: If your schedule allows, chilling the shaped patties for 15–30 minutes in the refrigerator before cooking is a game-changer. It helps them firm up, maintaining their integrity and cooking more evenly.
  • Flavor Variations: Customize your patties with additional flavors! Try adding a teaspoon of Dijon mustard for tang, a tablespoon of fresh lemon zest for brightness, a pinch of chili flakes for a gentle heat, or a sprinkle of fresh dill or capers for a gourmet touch.
